The ARTEC astrograph series redefines telescope design by combining cutting-edge manufacturing techniques with top-tier optical systems, ensuring exceptionally high quality standards.
The project began in 2011 from the vision of Stefano Seveso, Artesky’s founder, and was developed in collaboration with engineer Flavio Simeone.
ARTEC was created to meet the needs of demanding astrophotographers who value stable collimation, high-quality optics, and repeatable results. The astrograph is not seen as a standalone tool, but as an integrated part of a complete imaging system.
Over the years, the ARTEC series has evolved, with ongoing improvements in both design and production.
The ARTEC 250 is a Newtonian astrograph with a 250 mm aperture, entirely made in Italy by skilled technicians. It’s an excellent introduction to the ARTEC lineup, offering a highly refined and robust instrument.
With a native focal ratio of F/4.0, the system features a parabolic quartz primary mirror, aluminum-coated for >95% reflectivity. The secondary mirror receives the same treatment.
Its generous dimensions make it ideal for fixed observatory setups or expert astrophotographers on the move, seeking dark skies and long-term stability. Thanks to the precise mechanics, collimation holds better than typical Cassegrain systems of the same diameter.
Each optical set is selected to match the telescope’s overall precision:
The conical quartz primary mirror ensures optimal thermal behavior, minimizing lateral shifts and improving cooling time.
The included 1.14x coma corrector gives a focal length of 1140 mm (F/4.56) and provides a fully illuminated 44 mm field, perfect for full-frame sensors.
Three quiet 12V fans accelerate the mirror’s cooling phase. Every assembly screw is made of 316 stainless steel, hand-polished for corrosion resistance and visual appeal.
Each unit is fully tested before delivery to ensure Artesky’s quality standards are met.
Using advanced design software, each mechanical part is built with 6061 CNC-milled aluminum and laser-cut components. The result is a rigid, stable system that’s easy to use and keeps collimation during long sessions.
All mechanical parts are made from lightweight aluminum, steel, and bronze. The secondary support, laser-cut for maximum stiffness, ensures easy alignment. A special anodizing treatment protects from harsh environmental conditions.
The PegasusAstro Prodigy 3" Microfocuser, custom-adapted for ARTEC, supports up to 9.5 kg with zero flex. A dedicated tilt-adjustable base connects the focuser to the OTA.
On the camera side, the ROAS (Rotation On Axis System) allows manual rotation and optimal alignment of the imaging train. Includes an M54x0.75 male adapter, with custom adapters available upon request.
Chosen not only for weight, but for its structural rigidity and thermal stability, the carbon fiber tube is built by an Italian firm specialized in aerospace-grade materials.
It’s autoclave-treated, externally coated in matte finish, and internally blackened with anti-dust and anti-reflection coating. The rough interior reduces moisture retention.
