All about the Sky-Watcher 114/900 telescope
With a 114mm primary mirror, the Sky-Watcher Newton 114 harvests 2.6x more light than a 70mm diameter refractor. Under a very dark sky it becomes possible, unlike glasses, to see details on deep sky objects (weakly bright by definition: nebulae, star clusters). It promises beginners wishing to invest in a "real" telescope not to ruin themselves and to spend many evenings of observations rich in discoveries. In planetary observation after collimation it will reveal many details on Jupiter, Saturn and the Moon using a Barlow or a short focal eyepiece.
Its Newton design offers several advantages compared to other families of instruments (Cassegrain telescopes and telescopes). First of all, the manufacture of mirrors is more economical (spherical mirror) for an equal diameter and its focal ratio is generally lower. The central obstruction is also weaker than the Cassegrain type telescopes, if the collimation (adjustment of the mirrors) is well respected, the image quality is good in planetary.
EQ1 Equatorial Mount
The EQ1 mount allows fine positioning on the sky. Fixing collars make it possible to adapt the telescope to the mount. The design in equatorial mode allows after stationing (simple adjustment of the orientation of the mount towards the pole star) to compensate for the rotation not on two axes (altaz mount) but only on one. A motor is present on this version (batteries not included) to add more comfort. After stationing, the activation of the motorization generates the tracking of the targeted object. No need to compensate manually, the object remains in the center of the field.
